Coursework

As a student at the University of Florida, I will utilize my experiences and skills adapted in my coursework to my career in the future. Here are some courses that I feel have aided me in my career path. DISCLAIMER OF EFFORT: Some of these work sample was developed as part of an academic team assignments in courses at The University of Florida. FYC4622 Planning and Evaluating Family Youth and Commnity Sciences a course that will allow me to be knowledgeable about program planning and evaluation processes and will appreciate how they contribute to stronger social programs. I attained an understanding of the diverse health needs of individuals in the community. this course taught me how to design, plan, and implement health programs that focus on patient care and involve community health initiatives. For example, I completed a group project shown below that focuses on the issues of drug stimulant use which is a common health issue occurring today.
FYC4931 Professional Development is a course that gave me professional development experience in FYCS, including the search for employment during their final semesters of undergraduate study and information regarding graduate education for my nursing path. There is an emphasis placed on career placement, graduate education, and practicum readiness. I have utilized my skillset from this course in effective communication in developing interpersonal relationships with the participants at the practicum.
FYC3101 This course is covers the obstacles and stages connected to parenthood and relationships. It will dive into different family dynamics and potential risks families might face. This helped me understand that there are diverse family structures and some factors can affect whether an individual faces healthy relationship or not. This course then provided me with ways of strategy, skills and resources for understanding effective parenting. FYC3112 The sole purpose for this course is to find the answer to the question “how can we help families?,” while understanding a contemporary family and the stressors they face and ways to manage and cope. This organization instills the importance of community in this organization and can create a safe space for the families that share common vulnerabilities. I will be creating posts and constructive resources to share for these families to be able to express their concerns and stories. By pursuing donors, there can be more financial freedom to address needs the organization is facing which can help families through the services and events provided.

Trainings and Certifications

My future work as a nurse will be greatly aided by earning a certification in Parenting Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). For a nurse who is dedicated to providing holistic patient care, this certification offers a thorough grasp of how traumatic childhood experiences affect long-term health outcomes. It gives me the information I need to locate and treat the underlying causes of a lot of health problems that stem from early trauma.
